Still reeling from the heartbreaking events that unfolded on Grissom Island, Ruby Rose is trying to come to terms with the fact that she’s gone from a vigilante in killer shoes to a stone-cold killer. Everyone from her therapist to her smoking-hot boyfriend keeps trying to convince her that she hasn’t crossed over to the dark side, but Ruby isn’t so sure. It doesn’t help that her nemesis, Detective “Mastermind” Martinez, is still out there, waiting for another chance to take her down.

When an alleged CIA agent named Skryker shows up and asks for a meeting, Ruby figures it just means more questions about her case. But he has information of an entirely different nature and a job offer: join an elite force of young assassins, including Skryker’s right-hand guy, Quinn Donovan. Quinn is distractingly charming, handsome—and deadly. Ruby resists becoming a killer again, but as she becomes more ensnared in a web of deceit, no one around her is safe.

I reviewed the first book in this series and you can find my thoughts on it here. I was mixed on the first book and liked this one better. Ruby's life is still pretty crazy and she still doesn't have the greatest adult role models but I liked that in this book, she was around other people more so we got to see more of her interactions. Something happens with her mom that makes me hopeful that their relationship can be salvaged in the future.

There is a new love interest introduced (Quinn) and Ruby is attracted to him right away. She's not sure if she can trust him, though. I personally liked Quinn better than Liam and wasn't sure which one she would end up with in the end. Like book one, this one moves quickly and there are twists and turns that kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. Ruby learns some things about herself by the end and has resolution to a major issue for her. It will be interesting to see if there's another book in this series. The ending was satisfactory and I felt like there were a few remaining questions but nothing burning. If there is more, I would be interested to see the direction Ruby takes next!

There is different content in this one than the last one so I would recommend this series to more mature YA readers. There is quite a bit of sexual tension and kissing, some of which is pretty intense.

I am glad this one was good as well. I have them on my TBR pile, I just haven't had time to even look at it and actually read any of the books off it...hehehe! Kidding. Many of the review books I have read have been on my TBR pile also ;)
